West Bengal Motor Vehicle Inspector (Non-Technical) Recruitment 2024: Eligibility, Salary, and Application Details

The West Bengal State Transport Department is inviting applications for the position of Motor Vehicle Inspector (Non-Technical). The West Bengal Public Service Commission (WBPSC) published a notification on December 27, 2024 (Notification No. 17/2024) regarding this recruitment. There are approximately 60 vacancies for this position.

Eligibility:

Candidates from any discipline who have completed their graduation can apply.

Physical standards required:

Height: Minimum 170 cm (for candidates from Scheduled Tribes and hilly areas, it’s 160 cm).

Chest measurement: 81 cm (unexpanded) and 86 cm (expanded).

Knowledge of motor mechanisms and driving will be an advantage.

Age: Candidates must be under 39 years of age as of January 1, 2024. Age relaxation is provided for reserved categories and physically handicapped candidates.

Salary:

Basic salary: Rs.7,100 to Rs.37,600 with a grade pay of Rs.3,900.

Selection Process:

Initially, there will be a screening test or written exam.

Those who qualify the exam will be called for an interview.

The written exam will be for 200 marks with 100 questions in the following subjects:

1. General Studies, including Science and Humanities (75 questions)

2. Arithmetic (25 questions)

The exam will be of secondary school level (Class 10).

  • The duration of the exam will be 1.5 hours.
  • After the written exam, a personality test of 50 marks will be conducted.
